A Wonderful Break From Reality
We just returned home from our month long stay at the Casa De Campo Resort & Villas. We were not sure what to expect as we had not been to the Dominican Republic or this resort before. We were more than pleased with our stay. The entire staff at the resort was so helpful and accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed meeting all of them. We look forward to seeing them again in the future.
Our room was quiet and comfortable and kept very clean. The bedding and pillows ensured that we slept like the dead. It was a great place to relax at the end of a busy day.
My husband and I took our golf cart to the beach almost every morning for a few hours. We found that the short ride to the beach from our room was a nice way to enjoy the resort scenery. There was always someone ready to take your drink order if you were ready for a refreshing cocktail and plenty of loungers to enjoy. I was able to go snorkeling by the reef every day. I saw about 30 different types of fish. The water was very clear, the sand was beautiful and the entire beach was raked daily.
We found that the portion sizes were large at all of the restaurants. We both had a hard time finishing most of our meals.
Lago was the restaurant was where we ate most of our breakfasts and lunches. It was close to our hotel room and had a buffet. My husband was able to pick up as much bacon as he wanted.
The Beach Club renovation was completed during our stay. We had the pleasure of eating there 5 or 6 times before we left. The Beach Club accommodates both lunch & supper menus each day. The food was excellent and we were able to enjoy watching the sun go down while enjoying a delicious dinner to share. Music plays all day at the Beach Club. Some people found that they did not like the music during their meal, but we enjoyed it.
We enjoyed numerous meals at La Cana as we found it was very close & convenient to our room. The food was wonderful. We were usually able to sit outside above the pools and enjoy a nice meal in a beautiful location.
We took the hotel shuttle to the Marina restaurant whenever we booked a meal there. Seafood is the major focus of the menu at the marina. All of the meals that we had were very good. The music featured a talented group of singers & guitarists demonstrating more traditional Dominican music.
La Piazzetta restaurant @ The Alto De Chavon was a short hotel shuttle ride away. This restaurant featured numerous Italian menu selections. The music there featured an accordion and guitar group whose music highlights many of the old Italian favorites. Once again, we made it a point to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air & the fabulous views all around the restaurant.
The entire Alto De Chavon area was such a surprise & so beautiful. This facility is something - we enjoyed touring around the grounds to see the buildings, the church and the fountain. This location has hosted numerous world class acts in the past and continues to do so.
Some of the facilities that we did not have time enjoy were; polo, horseback riding and shooting. We didn’t even find the time to golf. Most people who stay at the resort definitely are there for the 3 world class golf courses.
All in all, this resort is a fabulous place to get away from it all. No matter who you are, you will return home refreshed and counting the days until you are able to come back again. Many thanks go out to all of the staff that were part of making this a very memorable trip.
