CASA DE CAMPO - The Shopping and Activities Guide

The Casa de Campo Resort offers more than just warm sunshine, sports, and world-class dining. Sometimes a little retail therapy is just the thing, whether it's buying souvenirs to take home, sticking up on sundries, or looking for a special dress or necklace to wear on a romantic date in Altos de Chavón. The shopping options at Casa de Campo focus on an upscale clientele with desires for designer resort and beachwear, as well as jewelry, gifts, and accessories. The Marina not only has restaurants, there are also several places to shop, especially for souvenirs and little things, like snacks and toiletries.

Clothing stores at The Marina include beachwear for men, women, and children at Poupette St. Barth and Kiwi Saint Tropez. Kiwi features more swimwear options, but both have an extensive selection of sandals, caftans, lightweight linen pants, and adorable beachwear for the little ones. They're both open from 10 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 10 pm on the weekend. Beach-inspired accessories and plenty of sunglasses to choose from are part of the appeal.

If you'd prefer strictly bathing suites, visit Vilebrequin. It's swimsuits only, although there are accessories to go along with them, like pool shoes and flip-flops. Melissa Odabash is a ladies and girls clothier, with light, airy dresses, jewelry with semi-precious stones, and sexy strappy sandals. There's more to choose from, but these popular options are always in style.

On the Marina, you'll find a pharmacy for any little scrapes or aches you have; this store also sells toiletries, snacks, and drinks. Enjoy a fine cigar from Fumo: Club Del Cigarro – you can bring one back to enjoy on your villa garden or while you relax on the beach and enjoy the sunset. There is also a small grocer at the Marina to supplement your meal plan with fresh fruit, boxed snacks, or beverages.

If you've chosen to spend the day at Altos de Chavón, then you've probably passed by Jenny Polanco . This store features unique, traditional handmade arts and crafts including carnival masks, paintings, wicker bowls and baskets, wooden table decorations, furniture and more made by skilled Dominican, Caribbean, and Haitian craftspeople. If you've discovered furniture that you simply can't live without, you can have your selections shipped to your home.

While many of the shopping opportunities at Altos de Chavón include clothing, jewelry, accessories, and footwear, the real prize is the artist's works sold out of their studios and the authentic, handcrafted pottery, local crafts, and specialty décor. You might find just the right accessory, such as the unique jewelry collections featuring amber, rare coins, pearls, and coral elegantly mounted in 18K gold and sterling silver from Everett Designs. Several stores source their wares from local Dominican villages, so the crafts you buy help sustain the local economy.

A small grocer is in the village, as well, ideal for a quick fresh fruit snack or to grab toiletries or small first aid needs. A favourite shop of many visitors is Tienda Batey. You can browse fine linens that have been handcrafted by local women from the sugar plantations and choose the softest pieces to make your bed at home a relaxing retreat.

If you're staying on the Casa de Campo resort, you can still get your shopping fix. Designer clothing, accessories, and footwear can be purchased at Carmen Sol NY, a designer boutique featuring fashions from international designers like Chanel, Dolce & Gabanna, Juicy Couture, Galliano, Prada, and more. There's a cigar store, as well, perfect to enjoy from your villa's patio or balcony.

Each golf course and the Tennis Center have a Pro Shop for sports equipment and accessories, as well as sport-appropriate clothing, in case you need anything. The staff in the Pro Shops are knowledgeable about the different types of gear, and everything is of the highest quality.
